BEAUTY ALPHABET – Q
Beauty Alphabet – Q
I guess Q was not the easiest letter to find a good subject on in the Beauty Alphabet.
Hence the time-lapse since the last letter.
I was thinking on posting on both Coenzyme Q-10 and Q-tips, but decided that the more important Quercetine is what we’ll go for, so
Q- is for Quercetin
Quercetin is a bioflavonoid and an antioxidant.
(Read; good for you)
You find it naturally in fruit and vegetables and red wine. Look for kale, berries, onion, tomatoes and grapes for quercetine dense fruit and veggies. The highest concentrations is in the skin and leaves of these veggies.
You can also find it in some herbal supplements such as St. John’s wort and Ginkgo biloba.
What does it do for your skin?
It acts as an Antioxidant (and that means it protects the cells from breaking down and fighting free radicals) ( ie keeps the skin healthy) and in skincare it is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and therefore have skin-soothing and restorative effects.
What Products can you find it in, you might ask?
Here are three products that contain quercetin, none of which I have tried. Just for you to see the areas where it is used
- Filorga has an hydrating face mist containing quercetin.
- You can also find it in Supplements from The organic Pharmacy
- Korres has an anti aging cream containing quercetin and oak.
